My Little BIG Gamecock Fan

READY SET HUT

We took Finley to her first Gamecock football tailgate and game. The Gamecocks were playing Vandy at 7:00 so after her nap we loaded and headed to Williams-Brice Stadium. She was in awe of all of the people and the Gamecocks that she saw EVERYWHERE. She made sure to point each one out and say GAMECOCK and GOOOOOO GAMECOCKS! After stopping by a friends tailgate we headed over to where Micah and Jeff were tailgating. Finley did NOT.STOP.MOVING. the entire time were we there. She loved playing with the big boys and chasing after the football! And even managed to steal it away from them a few times. She wanted to play football with them so bad. I wonder where she gets that from! I have a picture of me when I was a little older than Fin and I am carrying a football...I will have to find it to compare. I can already tell that Finley is a GAMECOCK fanatic. At least we are doing something right! HA!
PS Thank you Aunt Micah for the cheerleading outfit. She is the cutest cheerleader around!!

Shapes

When we got the Ipad we thought that we would be using it but I believe Finley is the one in control. But at least she is getting something educational out of it...She is learning her shapes. Now its time for an Alphabet game!

School Days

On Tuesday September 13, 2011 Finley started pre-school. Brian and I decided at the end of summer that Finley would benefit from being arounds kids her age and reading, singing, coloring, playing, and learning. I began the tall task of contacting all of the preschools in the area to try to enroll her. Much to my dismay and astonishment ALL of them had a minimum ONE YEAR waiting list. I put her on as many list as I could but I just didn't think preschool was in the cards for her this year. One of the first places that I contacted was Shandon Presbyterian Child Development Center because I had heard from many people what a great program it was but also how hard it was to get in. If you take a look at the waiting list criteria you would have the same feeling that I did...there is no way Finley will be able to get in to Shandon Pres this year and probably not next year. I hesitated to even send in the paper work because I didn't think that it would work out for her so why waste $45 on the waiting list fee. At the last second something pushed me to mail it in. I did but didn't expect to hear anything from them. It wasn't even a week later that I got the call that Shandon Presbyterian off of Devine Street had a spot open for Finley. I had 3 business days to accept and turn in the necessary paper work. Of course I immediately went there and did what I needed to do to get Fin enrolled. Call it Devine intervention but she started preschool on Tuesday. I was so excited for her because she is such a social, bright, child that I feel was getting bored at home and needed more interaction and stimulation. I was so excited for her and got her ready that morning. I snapped some really cute pictures of her first school day. She made a beeline out of the back gate while telling us "bye-bye" and walking toward the car. I dropped her off with no problems and I was so anxious to go back and pick her up to see how she liked it. The second she saw me she busted into tears...But her teachers said that she had a did wonderfully and had a great time! All day Tuesday and Wednesday she would mumble a song and clap her hands twice. When I went back to get her on Thursday I asked Ms. Connie if they sang songs on Tuesday...she said yes we sang "if you are happy and you know it clap you hands". WOW! She is already learning! Thursday she had a little bit of a rough day but I know that once she settles in she will LOVE it.

Legend of the Starfish

When we were at the beach this summer the neatest thing happened...when the tide would go out later in the afternoon it would leave behind starfish. Hundreds and hundreds of starfish. They were literally everywhere and I couldn't get over how many there were. All of the kids loved looking at them, picking them up, and putting them in tidal pools. Finley discovered them one afternoon and was so fascinated with them. She would run from starfish to starfish and would pick them up and try to throw them back into the ocean. It was so cute and she would squeal with delight! I took TONS of pictures on this particular afternoon and it was very hard deciding which ones to post...

A vacationing businessman was walking along a beach when he saw a young girl. Along the shore were many starfish that had been washed up by the tide and were sure to die before the tide returned. The little girl was walking slowly along the shore and occasionally reached down and tossed the beached starfish back into the ocean. The businessman, hoping to teach the girl a little lesson in common sense, walked up to the girl and said, "I have been watching what you are doing, hon. You have a good heart, and I know you mean well, but do you realize how many beaches there are around here and how many starfish are dying on every beach every day. Surely such an industrious and kind hearted girl such as yourself could find something better to do with your time. Do you really think that what you are doing is going to make a difference?" The girl looked up at the man, and then he looked down at a starfish by his feet. He picked up the starfish, and as she gently tossed it back into the ocean, she said, "It makes a difference to that one."

Summer 2011

Well summer is on the way out and fall is just around the corner so I made a slideshow for a sneak peak at some of my summer pictures that I haven't posted yet. Hopefully I will have them up before Christmas! We had an awesome summer and I hate to see it go. It went a little something like this...Gamecock Baseball, Amelia's wedding, OMAHA, National Championship, Jacksonville, Simmons family beach trip, backyard fun, bike rides, and trips to the park.
*Warning: I picked a very long song so make sure you have at least 6 minutes and 34 seconds to watch the video. I'm sorry it is soooooo long.

Isn't she lovely
Isn't she wonderfull
Isn't she precious
Less than one minute old
I never thought through love we'd be
Making one as lovely as she
But isn't she lovely made from love

Isn't she pretty
Truly the angel's best
Boy, I'm so happy
We have been heaven blessed
I can't believe what God has done
through us he's given life to one
But isn't she lovely made from love

Family Tree

We went to Jacksonville in the middle of July to visit with Mimi, Grandad, Greg, Kara, and all of the Buschers. We had a great time and Finley loved going to the beach with everyone. I wish that I had taken more pictures of our trip (Mimi has some great ones on her camera) but I was able to snap this one just before Finley went to bed.

There are 4 generations of Buscher's in this picture...Great Grandad Buscher (Bernie), Grandad (PeeWee), Uncle Doug, Greg, Brian, and Finley. Pretty neat.

17 months young

Finley turned 17 months young yesterday (8/22/11) and I can't get over how fast time is flying! I am loving this age although it can be challenging at times. It is so neat that she can really interact and communicate with us. She has fallen in LOVE with books and would literally read them a ALL DAY. It absolutely melts my heart when she grabs a book (booch as she calls them) and crawls in my laps, we read and then repeat. One of her favorite books is called "Lets go to the Farm" and it has helped her learn animal sounds. She knows what a dog, pig, duck, chicken and cow say. We are working on more animals. She is still a great eater, thank goodness! For breakfast she will typically have plain cheerios, cheese toast, fruit, yogurt...for lunch she likes chicken nuggets, or a grilled cheese sand which with fruit or a veggie...and for dinner she usually eats whatever B and I are eating. Her absolute favorite is still strawberries (beeerries to her). Finley is getting really good at using a spoon and a fork and she gets really excited when she gets the hang of it. We try not to let her watch too much TV but when she does she loves Yo Gabba Gabba and Dora the Explorer. She calls Dora, Door. She loves to play outside so we have gotten a ton of use out of the inflatable pools and her massive container of bubbles (or beees to her)this summer. We also take many trips to the park that is just up the street in our cool ride (Bike with the baby seat). Finley is sleeping really well. She goes down around 8:00 or 8:30 and sleeps through the night until 7:00-7:30 and sometimes even later. This morning our little angle slept until 9:00! I guess her Dr. appointment and shots wore her out yesterday. She had a great appointment but she is still tall and skinny...she is 31 inches tall and weighs just over 21 lbs. But she is perfectly healthy and the Dr. even said he was impressed with her language development. Probably because she said baseball and gamecock for him. I think it is time to enroll her in a toddler gym class because she did a roll all by herself a couple of days ago! Plus she has a ton of energy to burn. Ha! She constantly says "up" and climbs on the couch then says "down" and climbs back down then does it all over again. Finley's sense of humor is really starting to come out and she likes to play peek-a-boo and hide and seek. She is still the most social baby around. We can't go anywhere with out her tell everyone Hi, Bye-Bye, and giving out hugs. It's the cutest thing in the world. She can also point out her body parts...eyes, nose, mouth/teeth, ears, big belly, legs, feet toes. She has been doing a lot of this stuff for a while but I'm just now sitting down to blog about about. Ha! We absolutely adore or sweet baby girl and want to savor every moment with her. What a blessing for the Lord above she is!
